On Wednesday night, a social media user tweeted that veteran actor Mahmood Aslam passed away. Reacting to the fake news, the Bulbulay actor posted a video to share that contrary to what has been trending online, he’s healthy, safe and alive. Condemning the report, he further asked people to avoid posting such sensitive pieces of news without verifying them.

Later, Aslam took to Instagram to rubbish rumours about his death. “I’m Mahmood Aslam, breathing, fit and alive in front of you,” he said in the one-minute clip. “A few hours ago, someone reported on social media that I have passed away. Whoever spread this news, I want to request them, for God’s sake, to not spread such news without verifying it. I am sitting in front of you, healthy and alive.”

He further added that pulling such an insensitive thing might be entertaining for some but it can be heartbreaking for those related to the actor. “If not me, please think of my friends and family, relatives and fans and how they would feel after reading this unverified news. You can post about people who die so everyone can grieve them but please do not post fake news about those who are alive,” he exclaimed.

“I made this video to tell all of you to not believe the news. I’m here and alive. And I’d like to request the people behind the fake news to stop their malicious attempts. Think 10 times before doing such a thing. It might be fun and games for you but it isn’t a joke. Fans and families could get affected in the worst possible way,” Aslam added. The Fraud actor concluded by asking for prayers for himself and for those who spread fake rumours about him.

This is not the first time celebrities became a victim of death hoaxes. In 2020, multiple reports of popular singer Alamgir passing away were making rounds. Soon after the rumours were abuzz, veteran TV star Bushra Ansari shared a video on her Instagram, where she called the popular singer, inquiring about his health. Sharing her phone conversation with Alamgir, Bushra confirmed that he is alive and well.
