Ramazan is just around the corner and that means your favourite stars will be back on the silver screen for some light-hearted comedy, social satirical offerings and romantic shows to keep you and your families entertained after a whole day of fasting.

While the trend of a one-month-long Ramazan specials is relatively new, it has now become a staple in households with many waiting for them to return again next year. This year, we are set to witness several acting and a writing debut, an OTT edition, some onscreen reunions and lots of comedy.

From Adnan Raza Mir’s debut to Ayeza Khan to Danish Taimoor’s love escapades, here’s your Ramazan binge list!

Chand Tara

Starring real-life celebrity couple Ayeza and Danish Taimoor, Chand Tara is a quintessential love story written by Saima Akram Chaudhry. However, this time the protagonists won’t be related to each other and their love will not have an enemies-to-lovers arc, Chaudhry told Arab News.

The seasoned writer has written critically acclaimed Ramazan TV dramas including Suno Chanda, Suno Chanda 2, Hum Tum, and Ishq Jalebi. She also revealed that her Ramazan special will highlight the chaotic life of people living in a joint family system.

“My Ramadan plays are family-oriented, feature family members of all age groups, and encourage a joint family system,” she said. “The joint family system has its pros and cons. The system isn’t bad but we need to give space to people. This is the central theme of Chand Tara in addition to small messages in every episode.”

Family Bizniss

The Jeeto Pakistan host, Fahad Mustafa, has now stepped into Ramazan dramas as well. Titled Family Bizniss, his production promises to be a light-hearted family drama starring Asim, Saife Hasan and Salma Hasan in pivotal roles.

The wholesome tale of two generations navigating through inflation and economic crisis will air on the OTT platform Tamasha Digital on the first day of Ramazan. Its trailer shows a father approaching retirement and like any other parent, is worried about what that means for the family’s finances.

With new ideas for business, an emotional turn-around, and lots of comic punches, Family Bizniss offers an imaginative and curious love between the two generations fighting to survive and make a living in hard times while cheering a retired father who has been there without fail – something that’s relatable for many families.

Fairy Tale

As the name suggests, this one will be a dreamy tale of romance and love! Written by Saira Majeed and directed by Ali Hassan, Fairy Tale is a comedy play on how destiny plays its cards in love and life.

Marking Ahad Raza Mir’s brother, Adnan’s acting debut, Fairy Tale will air on the first day of Ramazan. The drama also stars Salma Hasan, Sehar Khan, Hamza Sohail and Ali Safina in pivotal roles. “The idea here is to take viewers on a magical, dreamy, light-hearted, and entertaining ride. Hence, a ‘fairy tale’,” Hamza, who stars as entrepreneur Farjaad Khan in the play, told Arab News.

Heer Da Hero

After writing Dum Mastam, Amar will now make her writing debut for TV in Ramazan. Although still a romantic comedy, the Qayamat actor has written a full-of-life and energetic character, a Punjabi TikToker named Heer Jatt for herself. She will reunite with her Dum Mastam co-star Imran Ashraf Awan in the drama.

Amar, in conversation with a local publication, revealed that her first drama is inspired by the comedy plays from the 80s and 90s such as Fifty Fifty, Sona Chandi and Uncle Urfi. “It was not just comedy, they would [add] pop culture references and very engaging parodies of well-known personalities [who] were relevant to the viewers and [the] situation at that time,” she said. “This is my tribute [to] that time.”

If you’re in the mood for some over-the-top drama, romance, conflicts and comedy, Heer Da Hero is your fix this month!

Rukhma Roshan

Last but not least, Komal Meer and Muneeb Butt will be bringing a story of a couple attempting to rekindle their love on screens this holy month. Titled Rukhma Roshan, the Zeeshan Ahmed directorial follows the story of a couple who keeps fighting with each other despite their “funny chemistry.”

Raniya (Muneeb) and Maheer (Komal) will have certain difficult but important conversations that’ll bring them closer to each other in the end. Muneeb, in an interview, shared that the issues highlighted in the drama are conversations every couple should before tying the knot to avoid conflicts in future.

The romantic drama also stars veteran actors Shamim Hilaly and Zainab Qayyum in key roles.
