ISLAMABAD:

An audio allegedly featuring former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and PTI lawyer Khawaja Tariq has surfaced on social media where both can be purportedly heard discussing a plan to silence PML-N Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz, who according to them speaks too much.

Without taking Maryam’s name, a voice believed to be of Tariq said, “Sir, this woman who talks too much should be stopped. Sir, please give her a befitting reply.”

Nisar said, “Alhamdulillah, I have the potential to bear all this…I am not confused or depressed. [We] will give them reply when the time comes.”

Tariq agreed with the former CJP, saying he had already given his reply on a private news channel.

“Just let me know. I will do whatever you say,” Tariq said and the audio ended.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the “indecent discussion” about “daughter Maryam” was highly condemnable.

"The indecent discussion about daughter Maryam in an audio leak between former chief justice Saqib Nisar and PTI lawyer Khawaja Tariq is condemnable," he said in a tweet.

“The society as a whole, particularly the womenfolk, should denounce such derogatory language and absurd thoughts about the women,” the prime minister added.

Only collective condemnation could discourage such a negative mindset in society, he noted.
