Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday staged its power show at Bagh-e-Jinnah at a mammoth public gathering on its 39th formation day.
MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that on March 23, 1940, the Muslims of the subcontinent decided to create Pakistan by combining their forces and on March 18, 1984 the children of the founders of Pakistan decided to save the country and steer it back to the ideals and ideology for which it was created.
Siddiqui further said, “we should all vow to save Pakistan and protect it from tyranny.”
The MQM-P leader said there are people of all nationalities here in the ground, “but there are only two classes in Pakistan, the ruler and the subjugated and we will continue our struggle against oppression.”
He said that use of force is not the culture of MQM-P, rather culture is its strength.
Senior Deputy Convener Syed Mustafa Kamal while addressing the rally said, “I ask the oppressed, why are the tyrants ruling over us. Our only mistake is that we have stopped raising our voice.” “There is no need to fight with guns, this is the era of social media…take to twitter,” Kamal said.
He said that today, if MQM gives a call for protest, people will come out in every street, “Karachi people, are you ready?” he cried out to a cheering crowd that said, “yes we are.”
Senior Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar demanded the re-run of local bodies elections, alleging rigging, and criticised the demolition of houses of local people in Karachi under a well-thought-out conspiracy.
Deputy Convenor Nasreen Jalil highlighted the unity of the people of Karachi under MQM-Pakistan’s platform, which has restored the city’s identity.
Deputy Convenor Khawaja Izharul Hasan stated that Karachi has become the voice of the entire Pakistan, while Deputy Convenor Anees Ahmed Qaim Khani emphasised that the people of Karachi know who the city belongs to.
Deputy Convenor Abdul Waseem accused the ruling party of Sindh of taking away jobs from the people of urban areas.
The event showcased MQM-P’s commitment to fighting for the rights of the people and the unity of the different nationalities living in Pakistan.
