RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police have booked a man for shooting to death four people, including his 40-year-old sister-in-law, in the Dhok Bail area within the limits of Kallar Syedan police station late on Friday night.

According to sources, the accused wanted the complainant to record a statement in favour of his brother to get him acquitted in a murder case.

Earlier, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani took notice of the quadruple murder and on his directives, DSP Kahuta Chaudhary Ikhtar Ali and SHO Kallar Syedan Muhammad Umar reached the spot, collected forensic evidence and shifted the bodies to the hospital where the post-mortem examination was conducted.

The DSP Kahuta said that the accused killed his relatives, including two women, and escaped. “A case has been registered against him and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused,” he said.

Sources said Muhammad Akhmat told the police that he was a landowner and had offspring including three sons and two daughters. “On May 23, 2022, my stepbrother Yasin killed Azhar, due to which my stepbrother and Mussarat are imprisoned in Central Jail Adiala, Rawalpindi,” the contents of the FIR read.

“For many days, Naseer alias Sairi and Akhtar, who are my step-brothers and real brothers of Yasin, were forcing me to state that Azhar committed suicide so that Yasin and Mussarat, who were nominated in the case, could be acquitted but I refused to give a false statement,” the complainant alleged.

“So two days ago my two stepbrothers, Naseer and Akhtar, came to my house and threatened to kill my wife and children if I did not obey their orders,” he said, adding that on Friday night, Naseer alias Sairi, armed with a repeater gun and a pistol, arrived at his house and opened indiscriminate fire, killing the complainant’s wife Zulaikhan, daughter Nazrina and her husband Pervez, and the complainant’s son Nasar before escaping away from the scene.

The complainant alleged that accused Naseer killed his family members at the behest of Akhtar and Miskeen by shooting the victims with the weapons given to him by Miskeen.

He went on to add that he along with his two sons ran away from the scene to save their lives.
