ISLAMABAD:

A subcommittee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) ordered a fact-finding inquiry into the alleged illegal hiring of consultants and sub-consultants by Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) management.

The subcommittee met here with its convener Burjess Tahir in the chair. The meeting reviewed the audit objections related to SIDCL, as well as the planning ministry relating to fiscal year 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Audit officials said that consultants and sub-consultants were hired illegally by the SIDCL management. On that the committee directed for conducting the fact-finding inquiry into the matter.

Tahir also directed the officials concerned to hold meetings of departmental accounts committee (DAC) on time, adding that when the PAC meeting was held, the relevant officials of the DAC must be present.

Meanwhile, the committee postponed the review of audit objections related to National Logistics Cell (NLC) due because of the absence of the director general of the NLC. Tahir said that discussion without the presence of NLC DG would be inappropriate.
