Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Gwadar and interacted with local notables, elected representatives and people from different walks of life, the military’s media wing stated on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS was briefed on the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness of formations and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)'s security, and efforts for ensuring a peaceful and secure environment.
During the visit, Gen Munir appreciated the efforts of all ranks and urged to continue working with professional commitment for the people of Balochistan.

“While interacting, the army chief emphasised handful of misguided elements cannot shake the resolve of the people of Balochistan and the armed forces, committed toward ensuring peace and prosperity,” added the ISPR.
The COAS stressed on the socio-economic development of the area and also announced welfare projects related to education, installation of solar systems, fisheries, water, health, sports and livelihood.
Chief Minister Balochistan Quddus Bizenjo and commander Quetta corps were also present during the visit.
In January, the COAS had emphasised on the importance of “maintaining optimum operational readiness” to thwart hostile elements’ attempts to disturb peace in Balochistan.
He made these remarks during his visit to Khuzdar and Basima areas of Balochistan, according to the ISPR.
The COAS was briefed on the prevailing security situation and the formation’s operational preparedness along with measures being taken to ensure a peaceful and secure environment, the ISPR had added.
