LAHORE:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has widened the scope of investigation against the former accountability czar of the PTI administration Shahzad Akbar seeking a record of his assets and properties by March 6.

He has been accused of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income and misuse of authority.

According to the sources, the national graft buster has directed the development authorities across the province to provide details regarding Akbar.

Last year, the PML-N-led government placed Akbar’s name on the exit control list (ECL).

Sources said that he is currently residing in London.

As per practice, if a person whose name is placed on ECL is abroad, he is arrested on his return and handed over to the relevant law enforcement agency.

Akbar is also accused of being involved in the misappropriation of Rs50 billion in a case related to a private housing project unearthed in the UK.
