The Utility Stores will be giving subsidies worth five billion rupees on 19 items under the Ramzan Relief Package.
The Ramzan package will be divided into two categories: Rs1.15 billion for the people covered under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and RS3.85 billion for general consumers. According to the Utility Stores sources, the Ramzan Relief Package will start on March 20.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet approved the Ramzan Relief Package on Wednesday. The ECC approved a hybrid model of the Ramzan Relief Package (targeted and untargeted) consisting of 19 items for the Utility Stores Corporation, budgeted at Rs5 billion. The summary was approved by the Ministry of Industries and Production.
The BISP consumers would get a subsidy of Rs100 on ghee, Rs52 on flour, and Rs30 on sugar, a 10kg bag of flour at Rs400, Rs300 on ghee, and sugar at Rs70 per kg.
While the general consumer would have a subsidy of Rs27 per kg on flour, Rs11 on sugar, and Rs25 on ghee, 10 kg of flour would be available at Rs648, ghee at Rs490 and sugar at Rs89 per kg.
All consumers would get a subsidy of Rs20 per kg on pulses, Rs25 on cooking oil, Rs50 on dates, Rs15 on beverages, Rs100 tea and Rs30 on milk as well as black tea.
