MUZAFFARGARH:

Two former MPAs are under investigation over alleged corruption and embezzlement.

DG Anti-corruption ordered an investigation against former MPA Alamdar Abbas Qureshi over embezzlement in development projects in his constituency during his past tenure. All records pertaining to his development schemes were collected from local government, district council, public health and highway departments to pursue the inquiry, an official source said.

Director Anti-corruption issued an order on the application of Muhammad Jahanzeb Ali. He alleged in his complaint that Qureshi plundered millions of money in connivance with contractors, namely Ghazanfar Abbas, Ghayour Abbas, Saeed Qureshi, Yunis Qureshi and Husnain Qureshi among others. He added that the former MPA released a large number of bogus payments by pressuring the officers concerned. Following the application, the investigation was started with a notice issued to the former MPA.

Meanwhile, the local Deputy Commissioner ordered an enquiry against former MPA Azhar Abbas Chandia over tampering with land records.

The inquiry was ordered on the complaint of an aggrieved party.
