ISLAMABAD:

PML-N Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz on Thursday lashed out at PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan, saying that the country was in dire straits because of the “flawed policies” of the former ruling party.

Censuring the PTI chief, the PML-N leader maintained that “your ruthless looting, incompetence, wrong preferences, harsh deal with IMF and its violation” had put the country on the path of economic misery.

Responding to Imran’s tweet, Maryam asked Imran to “remain quiet and sit”, claiming that the ruling PDM government was trying to rectify the mistakes of the past.

“See the arrogance! Those who are trying to clear your ‘filth’, you are holding them responsible for the mess created by you. Remain quiet and sit.”

Further, directing a pun at Imran, the PML-N senior vice president asked the PTI chairman to remember those who had “handpicked” him to rule the country and created all the “chaos”.

“And let's not forget to thank all those for this mayhem who handpicked and fed you for four years, as well as the remnants of their influence in the judiciary that you are now banking on. Won’t let that happen Insha’Allah.”

Earlier, in a tweet, Imran had held the current set up responsible for the economic crunch, stating that the incumbent PDM government had “practically slaughtered rupee in the last 11 months”.

He said because of the measures adopted by the ruling government, the country’s loans had increased by Rs1.4 trillion and the inflation skyrocketed by 31.5 per cent, which was the highest in the last 75 years.

He noted that the nation was paying a “heavy price” for the “conspiracy” behind the regime change through which the former army chief had “imposed criminals on the country”.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb observed that Imran had no right to question the economic policies of the current government which had been striving to undo the “mess” created by the PTI regime in its four-year tenure.

A “shameless person”, who pushed the country into the economic quagmire with his own hands, had the audacity to lift finger on others, she, ironically, said in a tweet.

He (Imran) did not only ruin the economy but also “plunged the country into political and constitutional crises”, she added.

The minister also shared data on her Twitter handle, giving an analysis of the economic performance of the PTI and PML-N governments.

She said the launch of “Imrani Project” in 2016 was the beginning of a conspiracy against Pakistan.

The economic growth would not have nosedived if that project was not launched, she said, adding the inflation and the unemployment rate had also increased due to the “wrong” economic policies of the PTI government.
