The National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) organised a stakeholder consultation workshop on the fan replacement Programme at the Ministry of Science and Technology on Wednesday.
The experts from the NEECA in collaboration with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) shared thoughts and vision about energy efficiency and conservation through the replacement of old energy inefficient fans in Pakistan to switch to the labeled energy efficient fans.
The fan replacement model along with its financial challenges was briefed for which BISP agreed to be helpful and instrumental in phasing out the implementation by supporting the model. It was said that the programme Fan Replacement will target 8 million BISP beneficiaries which will give the industry enough time to grow and respond to the market.
The audience was briefed about the specific objective of the Fan Replacement Programme to promote a culture of energy conservation without offering further subsidies.
A group activity was carried out with different stakeholders for the effective implementation and future scale-up of the programme.
