Hamid group clinches LHCBA presidential slot

10,576 lawyers exercise their right to vote

The professional group, led by Hamid Khan, clinched the victory on presidential slot in Lahore High Court Bar Association’s (LHCBA) poll by defeating the Independent group of late Asma Jahangir.

Ishtiaq A Khan became the new president of LHCBA for the year of 2023-24 after securing 7,293 votes.

While Lehrasib Gondal, who was also in the race of presidential slot, could only obtain 3,372 votes.

On vice president’s seat, Rabia Bajwa was elected who grabbed 3,590 votes while Sabahat Rizvi was elected secretary LHCBA who obtained 4,310 votes.

For finance secretary’s position, Muhammad Shahrukh Shehbaz Warraich clinched the victory by securing 7,109 votes. In LHCBA’s poll, there were 10,576 voters who exercised their right of vote.

It is worth mentioning that there were 14 contesters who were in the race for four positions. Total strength of the registered voters was 26,043 out of which 24,271 were the male while 1,772 were women lawyers. Both male and female lawyers believed that the polling day was actually their traditional festival they marked every year with enthusiastic manners.

Different groups of lawyers displaying badges of their favorite candidates canvassed the lawyers at entrance points of LHC for their votes to their favorite ones.
