Appeal: Badin needs your help

There is an immediate need to send food and medicines to the camps

KARACHI: Ninety per cent of Badin district has been flooded by record rains, said National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza on Friday while visiting a relief camp. While the provincial and federal governments were doing all they could to help, civil society and philanthropists should come forward, she said. “Eid is approaching fast and these victims living in the camps are seeking help.” The rainwater has started receding but there has been a terrible outbreak of water-borne and skin diseases. “There is an immediate need to send food and medicines to the camps,” she said.  Separately, a Badin farmer named Kabool Mohammad Khatian is scheduled to return to the district from Karachi to make it before Eid. He has asked people to donate either cash or food or medicines. He can be reached at 0300 2532840.
