QUETTA:

A gas explosion has left two people dead and three others injured in the Bhakkar area of Khuzdar district on Friday.

The explosion took place as a result of a leakage.

An official of the district administration told The Express Tribune that gas filled the room of a house due to leakage and it exploded when the family tried to light the gas heater in the morning.

The roof of the room caved in following the explosion, trapping the family members under the debris.

According to rescue sources, two people died and three were injured who have been pulled out of the rubble and shifted to hospital. The injured were stated to be in critical condition.

The district administration has directed the hospital authorities to provide quality treatment to the injured.

Local residents demanded of the provincial government to take notice of the deadly gas explosions which are occurring non-stop across the province causing deaths and financial losses all at once.

They said the sui gas department was responsible for these incidents as there was an unannounced and unscheduled load shedding across the province.
