Pakistan’s leading information and communication solution provider, Multinet recently unveiled the multitude of benefits it offers for enterprises in the region. The Telecom Infra Project’s scalable technology is widely used across fibre optic and Wi-Fi networks in over 120 cities nationwide.
After excelling at addressing the diversified communication requirements of its customers through its extensive product portfolio, Multinet is now upgrading its optical transport network with 3.2 Tbps capacity using the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Open Optical framework.
Expanded across more than 14,000 kilometres, the project would be one of the world’s largest in terms of Open Optical framework implementation. This is a step forward toward agile and hyper-scalable solutions for the ever-rising bandwidth demand across Pakistan. The upgrade will also enable Multinet to add more towns and cities to the already extensive fibre network, significantly increasing internet access capacities across the country.
Multinet’s robust network infrastructure features software and hardware from TIP’s open optical ecosystem and industry-leading players such as Edgecore, IP Infusion, and Smartoptics.
The local System Integrator partner in Pakistan includes STARCOM Technologies (Pvt) Limited and the Cassini, TIP’s disaggregated coherent switch and open packet transponder, is built by Edgecore Networks. It utilises IP Infusion’s OcNOS, the industry’s full-featured network OS for white box disaggregated solutions that provide the scalable transition to open and agile networks.
Multinet has also deployed TIP’s OpenWiFi technology to power Wi-Fi networks across the country. It aims to provide high-speed and reliable connectivity to hospitality, public, sports, entertainment, and retail enterprise customers. The premier company is one of the first managed service providers in the region to deploy OpenWiFi’s technology stack to provide seamless, fast, and affordable connectivity.
OpenWiFi is an open source-based Wi-Fi architecture that enables multi-vendor, interoperable Wi-Fi networks. Using this technology, a holistic Wi-Fi footprint can be expanded while ensuring a seamless experience.
Adnan H. Zaidi, Chief Operating Officer at Multinet expressed his thoughts:
“Our singular mission is to deliver superior connectivity solutions for Pakistan.
By using open and disaggregated technology with TIP, we will continue to lead the market with innovation that delivers exceptional service, quality, and reliability for the public, our customers, and stakeholders. This will greatly scale up our footprint and reach, with superior scalability. Open networks, like this deployment, will streamline operations and accelerate innovation.”
Using Edgecore APs and ecOpen Cloud Controller technology for their OpenWiFi network and hotspots, Multinet has developed a top-of-the-line user experience, with the help of a local System Integrator partner in Pakistan, STARCOM Technologies (Pvt) Limited.
The company is the top choice for customers stretching from SMEs to top global enterprises. It has been leading the way for a diversified portfolio of managed services solutions and a large array of IT-related services for over two decades.
Sandeep Kohli, Connectivity Technologies and Ecosystems Manager, Meta, and member of the TIP Open Optical and OpenWiFi Program Groups said:
“This is a shining example of Mulitnet’s ongoing commitment to bringing modern, cutting-edge technologies to Pakistan. Multinet believes in open and disaggregated technologies, including Open Optical and OpenWiFi. That’s why they are known as one of the most trusted infrastructure partners in the region.”
Kristian Toivo, Executive Director of TIP also shared his views:
“Multinet leading the region in open and disaggregated technologies deployments including Open Optical and OpenWiFi, and these deployments are a shining example of Mulitnet’s ongoing commitment to bringing modern, cutting-edge technologies to Pakistan.
We’re excited to see how these innovations benefit Multinet’s customers and advance networks in Pakistan for consumers and enterprises.”
