Thick fog descends on city in morning

Thick fog descended on the metropolitan city late in the night and early in the morning over the past couple of days, triggering speculation until the weatherman cleared the air, saying it was the result of a change in winds direction and rise in humidity levels.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the thick fog reduced visibility to 1.5 kilometres only, but it improved after the sunrise. Overall, the city's weather was reportedly clear and bright on Wednesday.

The PMD forecast says that the city may again experience foggy mornings on Thursday and Friday.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said that the winds in the city are now blowing from two different directions: the south-westerly winds from the Arabian Sea blow during the day, while the north-westerly winds from Balochistan blow in night. Dust particles are suspended in the air, which coupled with shift in winds effect the humidity levels.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in the city was recoded at 31.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature remained 14.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity level in the morning air was 95%.
