Syra Yousuf’s ‘Ghazab Kuriye’ is well on its way to be the wedding anthem of the year

Unlike the previous song, the actor’s love interest here is Aamir Qureshi, and not Shahroz Sabzwari

The first song from Essa Khan’s romantic film Babylicious, starring former couple Shahroz Sabzwari and Syra Yousuf, is finally out – on Valentine’s Day – and it’s about a union of love; a wedding anthem. Clad in bright-coloured shararas and embroidered kurtas, the music video for Ghazab Kuriye opens up with Syra running happily towards a guy in an embrace and surprisingly, it isn’t Shahroz.

The set, with all its traditional floral decor and grandeur, is a perfect triple-storey house suited for a big-fat mehendi. The embrace scene quickly shifts to what looks like a groom entering the wedding house clad in a blue kurta shalwar and an ivory shawl.

Syra, wearing a gorgeous off-white floral lehenga with a tangerine embroidered choli and a complementing blue dupatta, turns blushing to see the love of his life and starts dancing to the lyrics that speak of how Aamir Qureshi, the groom, stole her heart.

From classic twirls to thumkas to the classic Shakar Wandaan Re dance step, Ghazab Kuriye is a mehendi song through and through – and boy, can Syra dance. You best believe the fun groovy song will be played at every wedding function and engagement party from now on. The makers have done a stellar job with the dance sequence and the near-to-perfect shots, with wide angles and close-ups and the couple looks madly in love.

While the trailer and Mann Ranjhan focused on Shahroz and Syra’s love arc, this song creates curiosity about who our lead heroine will end up in the film – although most fans are rooting for a Syra-Shahroz reunion.

Babylicious, earlier scheduled to release on Valentine’s Day, was postponed for the umpteenth time. Now, the romantic comedy will release on June 27 on Eidul Azha this year. The makers said the new date came after “a thorough evaluation of the theatrical marketplace.” A week before the initial release, they wrote on Instagram, “Babylicious comes from a place of love and positivity. We want to present the film with that very thought. See you all at the cinemas this summer!”
