The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and the Sindh Investment Board have partnered under the ‘Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK)’ project funded by the World Bank to empower women owned and managed businesses in Karachi.
IBA Executive Director Dr Akbar Zaidi and CLICK-SID Project Director Anwar Ali Shar signed the agreement which would be conducted by the Centre for Enrepreneurial Development (CED). It would identify the constraints faced by women owned and managed businesses in Karachi.
CED Director Dr Lalarukh Ejaz, who is an assistant professor at the School of Business Studies, will lead the project. The team members include Dr Khadija Bari, Dr Farah Naz, and Azad Ahmed.
Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, the special aide to Sindh CM on investment, said that the IBA possessed the appropriate human resources and experience to identify the constraints; women are facing in the business world. He highlighted that strengthening of entrepreneurial ecosystem was one of the priority areas of the Sindh government.
Mr Shar said that the study would help policy makers address the prevailing challenges facing women owned and managed businesses in Karachi.
Dr Ejaz, the project lead, presented the project plan, its background, objectives, methodology, contribution, and the impact that the study promises.
