RIYADH:

Pakistan has developed a joint product development strategy to benefit from the opportunities created in IT under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its rapid advancement in information technology (IT).

After attending the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) meeting in Riyadh, in an exclusive conversation with the Express Tribune on the occasion of Technology Convention LEAP, Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Khurram Rathore highlighted the strategy of seeking benefits for Pakistan’s IT sector under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy.

Underscoring that the strategy to utilise opportunities for Pakistan under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is based on joint product development instead of IT exports, the Pakistani ambassador highlighted that, “The strategy of joint development will help Pakistan deal with the challenges posed by Saudi Arabia’s Saudisation policy and at the same time, Pakistan will be able to play its role in the development of Saudi Arabia.”

“While Saudi Arabia has the requisite resources to buy IT products from any country in the world, Pakistan has a talented workforce with IT skills and is keen on building on its long-standing relationship with the Kingdom to reap lasting benefits for generations to come,” noted Rathore.

He explained that in order to implement cooperation in the IT sector with Saudi Arabia, a Resource Augmentation Centre will be established in Pakistan which will consist of skilled and talented manpower. This pool of IT professionals and talented youth will cater to the needs on a project basis.
