SUP to start Sukkur to Karachi march on Feb 15

Shah says he was hopeful that the GDA and other other like-minded parties would support the march

KARACHI:

Sindh United Party (SUP) President Syed Zain Shah has announced that his party would start a historic march from Sukkur against inflation, corruption, bad governance on February 15. The participants of march will reach Fawara Chawk near Karachi Press Club on March 20 while walking through Indus Highway, Super Highway and National Highway and will demonstrate their full political strength.

The purpose of this 33- day Sindh March is to raise public awareness about the problems of Sindh and their solutions, said Shah while talking to journalists on Thursday. SUP Vice President Jagdish Aoja, Information Secretary Khawaja Naveed Amin, senior leaders, Munir Naich and Munir Magsi were also present on the occasion.

Syed Zain Shah said that his party is part of the antigovernment coalition the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) in Sindh, but the decision to hold the public march was made when his party did not join the GDA.

He added that he was hopeful that the GDA and other other like-minded parties would support the march. He said that elections could be made transparent through accurate census and electronic voting. “This method is opposed only by those political parties who have been forming governments through rigging and buying loyalties,” he added. Lashing out at the PPP, he said the party had failed to deliver despite being in power for the last decade and a half.

“The floods in Sindh last year exposed them completely. Now the funds amounting to billions of rupees are being taken out of the provincial treasury in the name of the flood victims. There is no one to tell where those funds are spent.
