Nadia Afgan, a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, sat down to talk about her most ambitious projects and how relatable her favourite characters are to her real-life personality.
In conversation with Born N’ Brewed, an online magazine, Afgan shared that the “most exciting” project she has done in her decades-long career is the hit serial Parizaad, where she essays the role of a priggish lady inspector.
“In my 23-year-long career, I enjoyed working the most on my character in Parizaad. I like playing characters that have something to offer or express. Honestly, I seek a character that, after playing, will make me feel like I’ve accomplished something in my life,” she said, adding that she still wishes for “that one role” and manifests to receive another “amazing character” in future.

However, when it comes to fans, Afgan’s Shahana Batool from Suno Chanda became a hit like no other. Upon how similar she is to her fictional characters and especially Shahana, the actor said, “Shahana was very honest and brave. She spoke her mind without hesitation and I can relate to that.”
Talking about how she finds the Punjabi culture fascinating, Afgan added that she observed Punjabi mothers, including her own, while working on bringing the true essence in the character. “A Punjabi mother’s response is often a chapair or a chapal. Although society has become more sensitive, Shahana Batool remains a pure-hearted mother. In general, I’m a happy-go-lucky person,” she said.
Upon what’s next on her agenda, Afgan spoke about an untitled web series that will reunite the Zindagi Gulzar Hai couple, Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed. Talking about the Asim Raza directorial, she said, “The writing is beautiful and the series is quite different from conventional dramas. The performances and costumes are well-taken care of and I believe the audience will love it!”
Written by Umera Ahmed, the series will also star Rubina Ashraf, Sohail Sameer and Mikaal Zulfiqar, as per Afgan. Other than the Asim Raza directorial, Afgan also has a drama in the pipeline and she’s playing a villain in the show. “I chose this project because the character I play has a negative side, with many grey areas, and she has all the reasons to be the way she is. I love that.”
The actor revealed that she’s taking on very little work now because she’s dealing with her father’s illness.
