KARACHI:

A teacher at a private school in Korangi beat up his student named Abdul Rafay so brutally that the child's right arm's bone was fractured.

The Sindh Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2016, bars teachers and school officials from physically punishing students, however, like scores of other laws, it is rarely implemented.

The victim's father took the child to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal report (MLR) and filed an FIR against the school teacher.

In this regard, Directorate Private Schools have taken notice and has constituted a three -member committee which will visit to school on Wednesday and take further action.

Muhammad Rizwan told The Express Tribune that his son Abdul Rafay, a seventh grade student of a school in Korangi No3 was tortured by a teacher on January 27. The teacher broke the bone of Rafay's right hand.
