Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Tuesday that the Punjab government would send medical teams to Peshawar to treat those injured in a bomb explosion a day earlier.
The Punjab government would provide all-out support to treat the injured, he added in a statement.
The caretaker CM said a 13-member medical team was leaving for Peshawar with medicines and blood from Punjab.
He also expressed solidarity with the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The Punjab government shared the grief of the bereaved families over the martyrdom of innocent worshipers in the explosion, he said and added that the attackers deserved severe punishment. Like all the people of Pakistan, the heart of every person of Punjab was wounded, he said and concluded that the cowardly act of terrorism could not shake the firm resolve of the nation. The caretaker chief minister also paid a surprise visit to the Punjab Institute of Mental Health, took a round of wards and enquires about the wellbeing of the patients.
He sought from the medical superintendent a list of patients who had recovered so that steps could eb taken to send them home.
The MS said about 250 patients had recovered but their families had not taken them back, while some had given wrong addresses.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), led by its president Prof Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, called on the caretaker CM and discussed training of doctors, improvement of treatment facilities and availability of senior doctors.
