SWABI/ NOWSHERA/ CHARSADDA:

Constable Pir Jamal of Swabi police, who was posted in Peshawar and lost his life in the police lines suicide attack, was going to retire from the police force on January 31 but was martyred just a day shy of that eventful date.

He was a resident of Gadoon in Swabi district.

Constable Muhammad Naeem was also killed in the blast whose father Fazal Raheem had also lost his life in the line of duty. After the untimely death of his father, Naeem had been recruited as a constable in police. He was a wireless operator in the department.

Both were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyards where their funeral prayers were attended by thousands of people.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Tilawat Shah, who embraced martyrdom in the sickening suicide hit, left behind three sons and two daughters.

He was a resident of Khwashgi Bala village in Nowshera district of Khyebr-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) where he was laid to rest on Tuesday with full guard of honour in his ancestral graveyard.

“The deceased was a father of five. His eldest son is in Pakistan Air Force. One of his daughters is also married. The younger daughter is just 10 and son 8. One of his sons is Hafiz-e-Quran,” said a relative while talking to The Express Tribune.

He was committed to his duty very much and always wanted to play his role in eliminating the menace of terrorism from the Pakistan society, he said, adding that currently he was deployed at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) headquarters located inside the police lines.

“He was very devoted and religious man who was very punctual in his prayers,” he said.

Constable Wahid Gul was also from Nowshera district who was posted at CTD. He was resident of Behram village, who has left behind a six-year-old son and four daughters.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Asad Khan was a resident of Misri Banda in Nowshera. He left behind two sons and four daughters.

An elite force commando Tariq is also among the dead who was injured while on duty in the Yakatot area of Peshawar three years ago and he performed mostly light duty ever since.

He was a resident of Mathra on the outskirts of Peshawar.
