Skincare devotees are currently going frantic over a new trend in the cosmetics industry, referred to as the 'glazed donut skin'. This skincare routine, which is said to be inspired by the popular dessert, promises to bring back your skin's natural glow and make you look years younger.

According to Covey, the trend was kicked off by Hailey Bieber who introduced the world to many of her skincare secrets in a video on her YouTube channel last year.

"My standard when I go to bed at night is that if I'm not getting into bed looking like a glazed donut, then I'm not doing the right thing," said Bieber in the clip, which instantly led to becoming the hottest saying in 2022 and the following year.

Glazed donut skincare: What exactly is it?
The latest skincare fad of the season has been dubbed 'glazed donut skin.' The term alludes to the trend of having clear glass skin which is smooth, shiny, soft-and yes, you guessed it, hydrated.

Moisturised skin is the end goal

The primary goal of the routine is to use products that are rich in antioxidants and vitamins that nourish the skin. Bieber's skin routine follows a tried-and-true formula: She double cleanses, applies a serum to damp skin and then uses a hydrating moisturizer. For extra glaze and luminosity, she applies face oil. "Find yourself a moisturizer that helps you look like a glazed donut at the end of the day," explained Bieber, while displaying her skincare line, Rhode's products.

And, if you want to add that glaze on top of your makeup, Bieber also demonstrated a way to do that too. Just apply a pump of Peptide Glazing Fluid to the back of your hand, dab your preferred makeup blender into the product, and then apply the mixture to your face's high points. Remember, moisturizing and keeping the skin hydrated are the secrets to radiant skin!

Experts join the skincare trend

If you can't afford all the expensive products listed by Bieber in her video, have no worries! As per Glam, New York-based aesthetician Tiara Willis told Women's Health about the trend and listed some key points to follow.

"You need to start with the skin, obviously," she began. "To get that glazed glow, your skin can't be ashy, dull, or dry. It has to be hydrated and moisturized, so it's important to use rich moisturizers and ointments. Glowing skin is healthy skin, so take care of your skin barrier by investing in gentle, non-drying products as well as barrier-repairing products. This way, you're all covered and have an excellent base for the whole look."

Willis also added that consistency in following a before-bedtime routine produces the best results. "Don't forget to use lip gloss or balm," she added before concluding the conversation.
