Former Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq denied the floating argument that a group of six to seven players had come to his house prior to the UAE tour last year taking an oath to remain united against then-captain Younus Khan.

“My house is not a meeting hub for any negative stuff and these allegations are totally baseless,” said Inzamam while launching the Lahore Premier League yesterday.

The former captain also urged Shahid Afridi to mend his ways when it comes to giving out statements in the press. Afridi has been keen to speak out against teammates or the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) – Shoaib Akhtar’s fitness issues, Younus’s omission from the squad and Kamran Akmal’s troubles behind the stumps – but Inzamam urged him to treat them with caution and not in a threatening manner.

“He should play his part with affection instead of threatening. He should not give statements regarding any other player because I think that’s the main reason behind dressing-room unrest.”
