NA seats altered in fresh delimitation

Sources say by-elections will be held under new arrangement

With the new delimitation, the status as well as the number of National Assembly seats in the federal capital, including four districts of the Rawalpindi Division, have changed.

Sources said the by-elections to the National Assembly will be held under the new numbering. The list of new constituencies has also been displayed outside offices of the Election Commission of Pakistan, deputy commissioners and EDC revenue.

The new numbering of the three NA seats of the federal capital will start from NA-46.

According to the list, Islamabad NA-1 will be NA-46 instead of Islamabad NA-54, NA-55 Islamabad will be NA-47 while the former NA-56 will now be NA-48.

National Assembly seats in Punjab have been started from district Attock. According to the list, Attock-1 will now be changed from NA-64 to NA-49 while Attock-2 has become NA-50 from NA-65.

The NA seats in Rawalpindi district have been started from Murree, according to which NA-57 Murree Kotli Sattian will now be the new NA-51 from where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s candidate is Sadaqat Ali Abbasi and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

NA-58 Gujjar Khan will now be the new NA-52. This is the constituency of National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

Former Home Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan's constituency former NA-59 will now be NA-53. Its areas include Chakri, Dhamyal, Morgah and Kotha Kalan.

The old NA-60 constituency of PML-N’s candidate Hanif Abbasi and Sheikh Rashid Shafiq will now be called the new NA-54.

The old constituency of NA-61 of Cantt Saddar will now be the new NA-55. This is the constituency of Malik Abrar of PML-N and PTI’s central secretary Aamer Mehmood Kiani.

Former home minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s old constituency of NA-62 will now be called NA-56. PML-N's Barrister Daniyal Chaudhary, Peoples Party (PPP)'s Malik Khalid Nawaz Bobby and Sameera Gul also belong to this constituency.

NA-63 Taxila, which is the constituency of former minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, will now be called NA-57.

All the political parties have been informed about the new numbering of the constituencies and the list has also been provided to them.

On the other hand, the status of the 15 provincial assembly seats of the Rawalpindi district has not been changed. The provincial constituencies of the district will start from PP-6 and will be up to PP-20.

A few changes have been made in their areas but their old numbering has been retained. The lists of provincial constituencies for the expected provincial assembly elections have also been displayed.
