Vaccination drive begins in Pindi

The Rawalpindi livestock department has started vaccinating cattle against lumpy skin disease.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, Rawalpindi Livestock Deputy Director Dr Sadia Ali started the campaign under the supervision of the director of breed improvement Dr Ehtishamul Haq from Buffalo Colony in Dhok Major. Dr Sadia said the vaccine was being administered to animals free of cost and urged the farmers and livestock keepers to cooperate with the vaccinators for protecting their animals.
The Punjab government had provided Rs1.5 billion to prevent the second possible wave of lumpy skin disease in Punjab.
Rawalpindi Division Director of Livestock and Dairy Development Dr Sarfraz Ahmed Chatta said the government had provided around 6 million doses of vaccines to control the virus effectively.
