WhatsApp will soon allow users to send images at their original quality without image compression. WABetaInfo spotted the code that would allow such a feature on the messaging app.
WhatsApp already lets users pick “automatic,” “best quality,” and “data saver,” image quality, but has had yet to introduce options for the original size and resolution of the image to be sent. Even the current, “best quality” option provides faster data transfers that take up less storage space.

WhatsApp is working on sending photos in their original quality, for a future update of the app!https://t.co/loR2jZPaSP pic.twitter.com/3ry6GKuS1P
The new feature is expected to be included in the new Android 2.23.2.11 but is under development and not yet available to beta testers. WABetaInfo found the 'photo quality' settings within the drawing tool header, though there is no mention if the feature will extend to include videos as well.
WhatsApp users can also work around the photo compressing by changing the file's extension and sending it as a document, rather than an image or video.
