After the Pakistan Peoples Party candidates overwhelming victory, political maneuvering has started to grab top slots in the local bodies' system.

The PPP newly elected councilors have started efforts to get support party leadership in addition to nominate and their choice of candidates on the seats reserved for women, labor, farmers, youth, transgender and minorities in the district council, municipal committee, and town committee.

The race and lobbying was on for the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship of the two municipal committees of the district council and nine of the ten town committees.

The names of strong candidates for the district council include the former chairman of the district council, Ali Asghar Haliputo, his son Abdul Wahid Haliputo, the most senior leader of the People's Party, Abdul Ghafoor Nizamani, Haji Saen Bakhsh Jamali, Zulfikar Rahu, Muzaffar Siyal, and Dr Sajjad Chandio.
