DI KHAN:

Police have booked four people for raping and filming a child, and later extorting money from the father of the victim, in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The father of the victim, a resident of Kulachi, lodged an FIR with police, stating that three months ago his son was raped by two men, Badshah Rashid and Zaman Khan, while their friends Sher Alam and Riaz filmed the entire episode.

“They showed me the video and then threatened to upload it on social media platforms to defame me and my son.

I paid them Rs2.2 million to save my honour but now they are demanding Rs3 million,” he said, adding that the four accused were blackmailing him.

Child rights activists Imran Takkar while talking to The Express Tribune said that the incident was not only a violation of children and human rights but an incident of mental torture and blackmailing.

Child Protection and Welfare (amendment) Act 2010 states that the hearing of a case should be completed within 30 days, Takkar said, adding that a child protection court was functioning in the district where the case should be heard.

He said children and women were most vulnerable groups in the Pakistani society.
