BHAKKAR:

The Bhakkar police have arrested the leader and members of an inter-provincial gang and recovered stolen goods valued at over Rs30 million from their possession.

The police also claimed to have recovered Rs4.8 million in cash from one of the suspects.

Bhakkar district is located at the junction of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

An official said the police had recovered stolen items valued at over Rs32.8 million, which would be returned to the owners after completing the legal proceedings.

Bhakkar District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (retd) Muhammad Ajmal stated during a press conference that the police were taking advance measures to reduce car theft and street crime.

The district police have also launched a special drive against vehicles and motorcycles used in thefts through an Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS).

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) have also been formulated for the inter-provincial checkpoints at Dajal and Dari Patan to prevent criminals from escaping.

The four suspects, Muhammad Asif, Tahir Abbas, Sajjad Hussain and Zakaullah, are in police custody and the investigation is ongoing. The recovered stolen goods include vehicles, mobile phones, motorcycles, cattle, solar panels, laptops and illegal weapons.
