HYDERABAD:

Two persons including the driver of a point bus of Sindh University were killed in separate incidents in Hyderabad on Friday.

Two unidentified assailants riding on a motorbike attacked the driver Ghulam Ali Gann at a roadside hotel near Central Jail early in the morning when he was on routine duty to pick the varsity's students from Hyderabad to Jamshoro.

ASP Alina Rajpar said the cause of the killing is not known.

The drivers and staff of the SU blocked the road outside the Central Jail in protest by parking the buses.

They later also staged a sit-in in the SU, dispersing after assurance by the vice chancellor that the university will follow the case and will also provide a job to Gann's son.

The body was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for postmortem.

The SU's employees association also held a demonstration outside the hospital, complaining unavailability of the medico-legal officer which delayed the autopsy.
