KARACHI:

The Anti-Terrorism Administrative Court has approved an interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Ali Zaidi in a case registered under attempt to murder and clash in Keamari town.

The court in Karachi heard the bail petition of former federal minister and ordered him to deposit a bond of Rs30,000.

The court also restrained police from arresting him till January 28.

PTI’s Bilal Ghaffar, Saeed Afridi and others have already secured bail.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Ali Zaidi alleged that he was attacked by miscreants along with police but a case was registered against him.

He said that SP Faizan instead of performing his official duties, he is serving Zardari mafia. He said that recent local government elections were just a joke. He said that he requests the judiciary and the institutions to look into what happened on January 15 in the name of election.

He said that Hafiz Naeemur-Rehman of Jamaat-eIslami has been contacted for local body government set up.

He said, he will meet JI Karachi Ameer on Saturday. Ali Zaidi mentioned that PPP has been buried with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. What is there now is Zardari mafia.

The PTI will not talk to this mafia who destroyed the city and the province, Zaidi said, adding that Zardari mafia has its vested interest. Instead of serving the people of the province they want to continue with their corrupt practices while remaining in power illegally.

Ali Zaidi requested the Supreme Court to take sou moto notice.

Speaking on the occasion, Haleem Adil Sheikh said, it has been proved that the elections were rigged and IG Karachi is responsible for what happened on the day of local government elections on January 15.

He claimed that the PTI was taking lead in the election with more than100 seats but the Zardari mafia, backed by the police, rigged the polls and changed the results.

He said, first the PTI would take its hijacked seats back then would decide about city’s mayorship.

Meanwhile, the administrative court has sent the PTI leader Amjad Afridi and his two brothers to jail on judicial remand in the case of allegedly torturing the polling station staff.

PTI leader Amjad Afridi and his two brothers were produced before the antiterrorism administrative court in Karachi after completing physical remand in the case.

Amjad Afridi’s lawyer filed a bail petition. The court issued notices to the public prosecutor for January 23 on the bail application.

Ali Zaidi, Haleem Adil Sheikh and other leaders met Amjad Afridi and his brothers in the court.

Talking to the media Amjad Afridi said that his brothers were subjected to brutal torture whole night and a case was registered against them under the terrorism Act. He alleged that SP Faizan blindfolded and handcuffed him for nine hours and tortured him.

“While making the video, SP Faizan kept telling me, can you hear the screams of your brothers. I will kidnap you and take you to Shikarpur,” Afridi said.
