Tremors were felt in Islamabad and different parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Thursday after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolted the region, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
According to media reports, the earthquake was felt in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Shabqadar, Swat, Kohat, Swabi, Lower Dir, Bannu, Charsadda and other areas.

The PMD said that the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.6 on the Richter scale and the epicentre was at a depth of 190km west of Chitral.

No casualties or loss of property was reported due to the tremors.
The US Geological Survey put the quake at 5.1, originating 47 kilometres away from Parun in Afghanistan at a depth of 96 kms.
On January 4, a strong earthquake jolted parts of northern Pakistan, with tremors felt in various cities including Peshawar, Charsadda, and the mountainous Swat valley of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Tremors were also reported from Peshawar, Takht Bai, Dir Bala, Landi Kotal, Swat, Swabi, Hangu, Charsadda, and surrounding areas.
The magnitude of the Jan 4 earthquake was recorded at 5.9, with the epicentre of originating 43 kilometres southwest of Jurm in neighbouring Afghanistan at a depth of 193.8 kilometres. .
