The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has begun working on the new master plan for four of its tehsils based on the peri-urban structure plan and site development zone.

According to sources, the four tehsils include Gujar Khan, Kallar Syadan, Kahutta and the Taxila.

RDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa remarked that the RDA is preparing planning documents for the next 25 years in collaboration with the local government. As per the plan, the top official said housing schemes, industrial zones and commercial zones will be allocated in the above-mentioned tehsils.

RDA DG also said housing societies and industrial areas will not be allowed to be built outside the site development zones.

As per the government directive, the areas falling outside the site development zones will be allocated for agriculture purposes.

Saif Anwar Jappa said that citizens who want to give suggestions regarding peri-urban structure plan and site development zones can approach them on the RDA website.

He further said that RDA wanted that the master plan for the next 25 years should be prepared and the suggestions of the public should come in this regard so that the planning documents can be completed.

It should be noted that three tehsils of Rawalpindi district including Murree, Kotli Sattian and Rawalpindi are not included in the new master planning based on the peri-urban structure plan and site development zone.

Master planning of these three tehsils will be done separately.
