Says agreement would enhance economic, trade and business relations between Punjab and the US state

Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has welcomed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for declaring Punjab and California ‘sister states’

He said on Saturday that the agreement would enhance economic, trade and business relations between Punjab and the US state.

The signing ceremony was held in California, where Planning and Development Board Chairman Wasif Khursheed represented the Punjab government. Pakistan's Ambassador Masood Khan, California Legislative Assembly Appropriations Committee Head Chris R Holden, United Sates officials and prominent personalities attended the ceremony. The MoU between Punjab and California will come into effect by 2026.

The chief minister said trade and investment would increase between Punjab and California, while bilateral relations in the education, health, information technology, environment and cultural sectors would also be promoted.

Educational and cultural contacts will be promoted along with economic and social relations among the people of both regions, he said.
