Anti-polio drive begins

Like other parts of country, anti-polio campaign will run from January 16 to 20 in all 4 tehsils of Sialkot district

Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi and Misbah-ul-Haq inaugurated an anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops and vitamin-A capsules to children at Primary Health Center Ugoki on Saturday. CEO Health Dr. Ahmed Nasir was also present on this occasion.

Like other parts of the country, the anti-polio campaign will run from January 16 to 20 in all four tehsils of Sialkot district. During this period, as many as 772,711 children below the age of five are expected to be vaccinated against polio. Approximately 2,676 mobile teams, 133 fixed teams and 69 transit teams are ready to fulfill their responsibilities and administer anti-polio drops and vitamin-A capsules, while the police will provide security to these teams.

National cricket icon Misbah-ul-Haq, while addressing the inaugural ceremony, said that to protect new generations from polio, parents should make ensure that every child up to five years of age is vaccinated against polio. DC Niazi appealed to the people to cooperate with anti-polio teams and save children from this debilitating disease.
