KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the police department to develop a new action plan to eliminate the street crime in the city.

As per the Sindh Chief Minister's directives, the police authorities created a new plan to prevent the life-taking criminal activities in Karachi.

From the police training centres, 3,100 police officers will be dispatched to the three high-risk zones.

A total of 1,000 personnel were dispatched to the South Zone from the Shahid Hayat Police Training Center in Saeedabad. 900 officers were dispatched to the West Zone, while from Police Training Centre Razakabad dispatched 1200 officers to the West Zone.

Meanwhile, a notification was also issued by city police chief AIG Javed Alam Odho for stationing cops in street crime hotspots in three shifts.

The new plan was needed as no difference was reported in the increasing number of crimes in the city.

Robbers run amok

A citizen was gunned down during a robbery incident on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Noor Rehman, 35, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where he succumbed to his injury.

He was a resident of Hangora Goth and used to run his own business. The police said the victim had gone out to purchase flour when the unidentified robbers stopped his way and tried to rob him.

The deceased's family and the citizens of Hangora Goth staged a protest against the police and demanded an action against the rising number of street crime in the area. The protest also blocked both of the Superhighway roads while traffic flow was also significantly affected. On information, police reached the spot and negotiated with the protestors.

Meanwhile, antoher citizen, 19-year-old Abdul Razzaq, was killed by bandits for offering resistance to a street crime in Bilawal Shah Noorani Goth.
