The electricity shortfall in the country on Thursday dropped to 3,175 megawatts (MW) from 4,059MW, as the total power generation was recorded at 14,320MW against the demand of 17,495MW during the last 24 hours.
According to a briefing on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 5,749MW, Wapda thermal 1,854MW, IPPs 6,523MW and rental 194MW. As many as 680MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report said.
The water level at Tarbela and Mangla dams was recorded at 1,546.40 feet and 1,203.45 feet with water discharge of 152,600 and 10,000 cusecs, respectively. The power demand has also reduced owing to the recent monsoon spell, it said.
