Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced on Thursday that more than 100,000 jobs would be given in in the province in the coming few months.
Talking to media representatives after inaugurating the extension project and latest equipment in the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, he said the Punjab government had lifted the ban on inductions in different departments.
He said an agreement to maintain cleanliness had been made with a Turkish company, after which the people would see improvements in the situation in every city of the province.
The chief minister also said that there was no need to implement what he termed an unlawful order of the governor. He expressed confidence that his government was strong. The Punjab government was working round the clock to improve the life of the poor people, he added.
He alleged that the PML-N government had tried to hamper the project of the Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology but it had now become functional. Children suffering from cardiac diseases will undergo surgery in the institute in Wazirabad.
Latest cancer treatment with cyber knife will be provided in Gujrat and all types of medicines will be provided free of cost in the hospital.
The chief minister also announced that the doctors of Wazirabad and Gujrat would be provided good residential facilities.
Doctors are being recruited in Punjab and the health facilities are being expanded to the remote areas, the CM said.
He announced that a family health clinic and a trauma centre would be established in Ghakhar.
“We are bringing improvements in every sector. The people can avail more than 30 services from home through the Go-Punjab App,” he said.
He announced that a housing colony would be established for journalists in Gujranwala, where journalists of Wazirabad would also be accommodated.
The CM laid the foundation stone of the extension project of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology in Wazirabad and inaugurated a new block of paediatric cardiology.
He also inaugurated angiography machines and two modular operation theatres. He said the capacity of the institute would be enhanced from 100 to 200 beds, and in the second phase to 500.
He said the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff would be fulfilled forthwith. A catheterisation lab will be established in the institute at an initial cost of Rs200 million. Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi also inaugurated the Gujranwala Medical College Teaching Hospital along with the CT scan section, operation theatre, ICU and sterile supply.
He visited various departments and enquired after the patients in the wards.
The CM announced regularisation of the services of contract doctors and provision of residences for them on their demand.
He said he had resolve to make Gujranwala an excellent city with regard to education, health and cleanliness.
The specialised healthcare and medical education secretary said the hospital would have 502 beds. The project will cost Rs7.74 billion.
A six-storey central and emergency block has been established in the hospital. As many as operation theatres and an ICU comprising 40 beds has also been set up. At least 16 medical services will be provided in the hospital. A filter clinic, gynaecology and ophthalmology sections will be established in the OPD. CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound and pathology labs will also be set up in the hospital.
A multi-storey residential building and a hostel will be established for the doctors and staff members in the new hospital. Three buses have been provided for the students, doctors and staff members.
An incinerator has been installed to dispose of hospital waste.
