Police helpline calls decrease by over 18%

Case registration declined significantly in two weeks

Quoting data from Safe City records, the Punjab Police claimed the number of call on helpline 15 have decreased from 42,819 to 35,000 during a week. Similarly, the number of registered crimes in all districts of the province decreased from 16,431 to 13,123.

There has also been a significant decrease and the number of calls related to such crimes ie robbery, robbery and theft has come down from 6,540 to 5,771.

The registration of cases has also declined significantly and the total number of cases registered during a week has come down from 8,842 to 6,021.

Punjab IGP Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has ordered the RPOs, DPOs to continue the crackdown vigorously to curb crimes and arrest habitual and hardened criminals in all districts through raiding crime dens. The IG Punjab said the dangerous groups and criminal gangs involved in organised crime should be arrested and the zero-tolerance policy should be continued against those involved in drugs, illegal weapons, street crime and hardened crimes.

The IGP directed that the supervisory officers in all the districts should monitor the crackdown themselves, the report should be sent to the Central Police Office regularly. Within the first week of Aamir Zulfiqar Khan's appointment as IG Punjab, there was a clear reduction in overall crime graph of the province.

By the effective performance of police teams, the overall graph of 15 calls, registration of cases and robberies and theft was reduced, Khan added.
