The decision to revoke the recent increase in the water bills and to charge the old rates following a protest by the local government representatives and other personalities has sent a wave of happiness among the citizens.
According to sources, Tehsil Chairman Samiullah Khan has provided great relief to the people of Haripur who are already suffering from high inflation. Tehsil Chairman Samiullah Khan said that the Haripur consumers will now get water supply at the old rates after the hike in bills has been abolished. The series of providing relief to the people of Haripur will continue in the future and the administration will continue to take all possible steps to protect basic facilities for the people.
The increase in water bills by the municipal administration has been withdrawn. The tehsil members also presented a unanimous resolution in this regard in the tehsil council which was approved, he said. The monthly water bills were suddenly increased from Rs150 to Rs300. At that time, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Yusuf Ayub Khan had also assured to play a role in getting the rates revised. Tehsil Council members and other civil society including the media also played their role in this public issue.
