Suicide attempt at Clock Tower foiled
A citizen climbed Faisalabad’s Ghanta Ghar with the intention of committing suicide. Rescue teams brought the youth down from the tower after an hour-long operation, handing him over to Kotwali police.
According to officials, 30-year-old Muhammad Imran, who is mentallychallenged, went inside the Clock Tower at around 11am and then climbed the main minaret, before throwing stones at citizens on the ground.
Citizens called Rescue 1122 on the police helpline, after which police officers including SP Lyallpur Town Hafiz Kamran Asghar, District Emergency Officer Rescue Ehtasham Wahla, DSP Kotwali Rana Nasrullah Khan, SHO Kotwali Sarfraz Olakh reached the spot.
The roads leading to the tower were cordoned off by police, as rescuers took Imran down from the tower, using rescue cranes and ropes over the course of an hour. A large number of citizens, who came to the area for shopping, observed the rescue operation at the scene. DEO Rescue Ehtasham said that the young man who was handed over to the police.
