RAWALPINDI:

A soldier embraced martyrdom while four terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu's Jani Khel area, the military's media wing said on Saturday.

According to the ISPR, weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists who were actively involved in subversive activities and the killing of innocent citizens.

The martyred soldier, Sepoy Muhammad Wasim, 25, was a resident of Khairpur.

Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested five terrorists from three cities in separate raids.

According to sources, the arrested terrorists had completed the planning of carrying out terror activities in sensitive districts.

The main commander of the banned al Qaeda was also included in the arrested suspects, while suicide vest-making equipment, explosive materials, weapons and prohibited literature had also been recovered from the terrorists.

The terrorists were identified as Farooq Shah, Saifullah, Syed Shahzeb, Ahmed Khan and Israr Ahmed.

The CTD checked more than 21,000 people in 504 combing operations this week and arrested 153 suspects.

According to CTD officials, 67 successful raids were carried out during the operations.
