Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has welcomed the decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) regarding conducting local body elections in the federal capital as per schedule (Dec 31), expressing hope that the people will defeat the “corrupt gang” in the polls.
Imran said in a message that he congratulated the people of Islamabad on the court’s order to hold local body elections on Dec 31 (Saturday). As a result of the court decision, the people of Islamabad will be able to elect their local government through voting, he added.
He also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) always took decisions against democracy by supporting the “thieves”.
“By the grace of Allah, the honourable courts always reject the illegal decisions of the Election Commission,” he remarked.
This “corrupt group’s” afraid of the people, he claimed, adding that they always took an escape route from the elections, and the “thieves'” only attempt was to maintain their grip on the country.
The PTI chief said that in order to stay in control of the country, the “corrupt group” uses the money of horse trading and corruption to make “markets of consciences”.
“This mafia has no way left as the people have rejected them badly,” he claimed.
He strongly urged the people of Islamabad to fully participate in the LG elections on Saturday.
He said that he hopes that the people of Islamabad would defeat this “corrupt group” in the LG polls.
