The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), on Thursday, urged the government to remove the Maximum Demand Indicator (MDI) fixed charges for the industrial consumers of electricity.
In a statement, LCCI leaders said that a large number of their members complained that the MDI fixed charges are payable regardless of whether any electricity has been consumed or not - which is a sheer injustice.
Costly electricity and surcharges are not a solution to the power sector’s problems. The government must address the inefficiencies existing within the system, they urged.
