Airport authorities should be asked to conduct complete screening of all arriving passengers
KARACHI:
In the wake of outbreak of new Covid variant in China, the focal person of Sindh Health Department for Covid, Dr Suhail Raza Shaikh, has sent a letter to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and National Institute of Health recommending booster dose for people of 65 years of age and above.
He said, there is a fear that Covid might outbreak in the country including Sindh again so it is recommended to set up isolation centres at all government hospitals across Sindh and make chest x-ray and pneumonia test mandatory for people if they show any related symptoms.
Airport authorities should be asked to conduct complete screening of all arriving passengers, especially those coming from China, and check their Covid-19 vaccination cards.
He said that wearing face masks should also be made mandatory for all and a ban should be imposed on social gatherings.
He said that new guidelines about Covid-19 should be issued.
Dr Suhail mentioned that Covid-19 vaccine has been provided to most of the centres across the province including Karachi while arrangements have been made to provide vaccine to centres all over Sindh in next two days, he added.
