PESHAWAR:

The Milli Yakjehti Council Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has said that the central and provincial governments have completely failed in maintaining peace and harmony in K-P.

The council organised a meeting in Peshawar, with provincial president Abdul Wasey in the chair.

Provincial secretary Pir Jamal Din and MNA Molana Abdul Akbar Chitrali were also in attendance.

Addressing the meeting, the speakers said that extortion is on the rise but the government and law enforcement agencies have practically failed to protect the lives and property of the people.

They recalled an incident that happened in the Peshawar mosque last year which they said has not been investigated yet. A judicial commission should be formed to probe the incident, they demanded.

They also called for approval of the Jamaat-e-Islami-sponsored bill against usury by the National Assembly.

They also stated that the ongoing situation in Parachinar is threatening unrest and that the government must resolve the land issue in accordance with the law.
